Freight transport Romania – France, in both directions

From Romania to France go car components, parts for the aeronautics industry, furniture, textiles and electrical equipment. From France come machinery, spare parts, cosmetics, wine and food products. For expensive goods, such as aeronautical components or cosmetics, we recommend a dedicated truck and cargo insurance for the real value.

For freight transport to France we organise:

The route to France

The usual road goes through Hungary, Austria and southern Germany, entering France near Strasbourg or Mulhouse. To the south of France, trucks go through northern Italy and cross the Alps through the Fréjus or Mont Blanc tunnels, or along the coast, via Ventimiglia. The route through the Alps has restrictions for heavy trucks and separate tunnel tolls.

Road tolls and traffic restrictions

Most French motorways charge a toll (péage), paid by section. Trucks over 7.5 t do not drive from Saturday at 22:00 until Sunday at 22:00, nor on the eve and the day of public holidays, and in summer there are extra restrictions on some Saturdays. In large cities, such as Paris and Lyon, there are low-emission zones, where access depends on the vehicle class (Crit'Air sticker).

Documents for freight transport to France

As it is a member of the European Union, goods move to France without customs formalities. For the transport you need an invoice or delivery note, the CMR consignment note, completed at loading and signed by the consignee at delivery, and the UIT code from RO e-Transport, if the shipment leaves Romania and exceeds the thresholds.

Special goods need additional documents: the safety data sheet and ADR documents for dangerous goods, the vehicle's ATP certificate for perishable food, or the special permits for oversize loads, issued in each country along the route.

Transport from France to Romania

From France we bring to Romania machinery and spare parts, building materials, packaging, wine and food products. For the return leg we look for trucks that unload in France and head back east, to keep the price fair.

Frequently asked questions

Can't find your answer? Write to us at contact@transport-marfa.com or call +40 731 095 863.

Can you deliver in Paris, in the restricted zone?

Yes. For deliveries in Paris and other large cities we check access to the low-emission zone in advance and, if needed, use a vehicle with the right Crit'Air class or a van for the last kilometres.

How long does freight transport Romania–France take?

With one driver, usually 3–4 days to the east, centre or south-east of France and 4–5 days to the north, west or south-west. With two drivers, the transit time is 1–2 days shorter.

How much does freight transport to France cost?

The price depends on the distance, the road tolls in the countries along the route, the type of vehicle, how fast the goods must arrive and how many trucks are available on that route. Send us the addresses, the date, and the type and weight of the goods and you will get the price within 30 minutes during opening hours.

Do you also offer pallet groupage to France?

Yes. For a few pallets or a partial load to France we use international groupage: you pay only for the space you use, per loading metre or per pallet, and the transit time is 1–3 days longer than for a full truckload.

What documents do I need for a shipment to France?

As this is an EU country, no customs formalities are needed for France: the invoice, the CMR consignment note and the UIT code from RO e-Transport are enough, if the shipment leaves Romania and exceeds the thresholds. Dangerous, perishable or oversize goods need additional documents.

Do you also transport goods from France to Romania?

Yes. We run trips in both directions, loading anywhere in France and delivering anywhere in Romania.
