International transport

Express transport in Europe

When the goods cannot wait, a van of up to 3.5 t leaves just for you, with one or two drivers, and goes straight to the destination. It is the solution for parts that stop a production line, samples, original documents or just-in-time goods.

When to choose international express transport

  • a production line is stopped because a part is missing;
  • you have samples or goods for a trade fair or for a customer, with a fixed date;
  • original documents, tools or moulds have to arrive;
  • you work just-in-time and a groupage truck would arrive too late;
  • you have a few pallets that do not justify a full truck but cannot wait for groupage.

Typical transit times by van with a double crew, from Bucharest

Typical transit times with two drivers, from loading in Bucharest, without unforeseen stops.
DestinationTypical transit time
Budapest11–14 hours
Vienna14–17 hours
Munich20–24 hours
Milan22–26 hours
Hamburg26–30 hours
Amsterdam30–34 hours
Paris30–36 hours
Madrid42–48 hours
London36–44 hours, plus customs

With one driver, the transit times increase, because the driver must respect driving and rest times. From the west of the country, the destinations in Western Europe are a few hours closer.

What fits in a van

A 3.5 t van usually carries between 1 and 1.3 tonnes of goods. A closed box van usually fits 4–5 Euro pallets, and a longer curtain-sider van up to 10 Euro pallets. For heavier goods we offer a 7.5 t truck or a full truckload.

Rules for vans in international transport

Vans over 2.5 t carrying goods between countries need a Community licence, and from July 2026 they also have a tachograph, so they respect the same driving and rest times as a truck. For long and urgent trips we therefore use a double crew: the two drivers take turns at the wheel, and the van does not stop for long breaks.

How an express trip works

  1. You send us the addresses, the dimensions, the weight of the goods and the time by which they must be delivered.
  2. We confirm the van, the loading time and the estimated transit time, usually within 30 minutes at most.
  3. The van loads and leaves straight for the destination. On the road you receive position updates.
  4. At delivery, the consignee signs the CMR consignment note and you receive the confirmation.

How long does a van trip from Romania to Germany take?

With a double crew, usually 20–30 hours, depending on the destination city. With one driver, about two days.

Do vans need a tachograph in international transport?

Yes. From July 2026, vans over 2.5 t in international freight transport have a tachograph and comply with driving and rest times, just like a truck.

Can you collect goods abroad and bring them urgently to Romania?

Yes. We organise express trips in both directions, for example urgent parts from Germany or Italy for factories in Romania.

What happens if the goods are too heavy for a van?

We offer you a 7.5 t or 12 t truck, also dedicated, or a full truckload. Our quote tells you which option is suitable.
