Approximate road distances from Bucharest, on the usual routes, rounded to 50 km. Typical transit time with one driver; with two drivers, long trips are 1–2 days shorter. The transit time does not include waiting at customs.

The route to Turkey

Trucks go through Bulgaria and enter Turkey at Kapitan Andreevo – Kapıkule, one of the busiest road customs points in Europe. The waiting time at customs varies a lot from one day to the next, so we include it in the estimated transit time and prepare the documents before departure.

Road tolls and traffic restrictions

In Turkey, motorways and the bridges over the Bosphorus charge a toll, paid electronically. The maximum permitted weight and the rules for oversize transport differ from those in the EU, so for heavy or oversized goods we check the permits in advance.

Documents for freight transport to Turkey

Turkey has a customs union with the EU for industrial products, but the transport still needs an EU export declaration, a Turkish import declaration and a commercial invoice with customs codes. For industrial products, the A.TR movement certificate allows preferential treatment, and for agricultural products the EUR.1 certificate is used. Some products also need health or conformity certificates.

Transport from Turkey to Romania

From Turkey we bring to Romania textiles, household appliances, industrial components, building materials, fruit and vegetables, with a Turkish export declaration and clearance on entry into the EU.

Frequently asked questions

Can't find your answer? Write to us at contact@transport-marfa.com or call +40 731 095 863.

How long does customs at Kapıkule take?

It varies from a few hours to more than a day, depending on traffic and documents. With complete documents prepared in advance, the waiting time drops considerably.

What is the A.TR certificate?

It is the document showing that industrial goods circulate freely in the EU–Turkey customs union and benefit from exemption from customs duties. It is issued on export, on the basis of the customs declaration.

How much does freight transport to Turkey cost?

The price depends on the distance, the road tolls in the countries along the route, the type of vehicle, how fast the goods must arrive and how many trucks are available on that route, plus the cost of customs formalities. Send us the addresses, the date, and the type and weight of the goods and you will get the price within 30 minutes during opening hours.

Do you also offer pallet groupage to Turkey?

Yes. For a few pallets or a partial load to Turkey we use international groupage: you pay only for the space you use, per loading metre or per pallet, and the transit time is 1–3 days longer than for a full truckload.

What documents do I need for a shipment to Turkey?

You need the EU export declaration, the import declaration at destination, the commercial invoice with customs codes and the CMR consignment note. Depending on the goods, transit documents or proof of origin may also be required. Our quote tells you exactly what to prepare.

Do you also transport goods from Turkey to Romania?

Yes. We run trips in both directions, loading anywhere in Turkey and delivering anywhere in Romania. For imports we prepare, together with the customs broker, the export declaration and the clearance on entry into the EU.
