Which type of transport to choose for Europe

Full truckload (FTL)

A 13.6 m semi-trailer just for your goods, from 24 t or 33 Euro pallets downwards. The fastest and safest option for large volumes, because the goods are not moved on the way.

International groupage

For a few pallets or a partial load. You pay only for the space you use, per loading metre, and the transit time is 1–3 days longer than for a full truckload.

Express van

A van of up to 3.5 t leaves just for you, with one or two drivers. Suitable for urgent parts, samples and just-in-time deliveries.

Refrigerated

Temperature-controlled trucks, from -25 °C to +25 °C, with an ATP certificate for perishable food and temperature recording throughout the trip.

ADR

Dangerous goods, with equipped vehicles and ADR-certified drivers, after checking the safety data sheet and the tunnel restrictions.

Oversize

Oversized machinery and structures, with permits obtained separately in each country along the route and with escort where required.

EU countries and non-EU countries

To the 18 European Union countries on our list, goods move without customs formalities: you need an invoice, the CMR consignment note and, on leaving Romania, the UIT code from RO e-Transport, if the shipment exceeds the thresholds.

For Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Serbia and the Republic of Moldova, export and import customs declarations are required, sometimes also transit documents (T1 through the NCTS system) and proof of origin, such as EUR.1 or A.TR. We prepare the documents together with the customs broker before departure, so that the goods do not wait at the border.

Schengen and border controls

Since 1 January 2025, Romania has been a full member of the Schengen area. For trucks, this means the permanent checks at the borders with Hungary and Bulgaria have disappeared, and trips to the west are faster and more predictable.

Some states, such as Germany, Austria, Denmark or Slovenia, still keep temporary checks at certain internal borders. It usually means only a few minutes lost, but we take it into account for trips with a fixed delivery time.

How the price of an international transport is calculated

An international transport has no fixed price per kilometre. The price starts from the distance, but it also depends a lot on:

  • the road tolls in each country along the route, which differ widely from one to another, plus bridges, tunnels and ferries;
  • how many trucks return empty on your route that week;
  • the type of vehicle: van, full truckload, refrigerated, ADR or oversize;
  • urgency: a double crew shortens the transit time, but costs more;
  • weekend restrictions, which can keep a truck parked for a whole day;
  • customs formalities, for countries outside the EU.

To get the exact price, send us the loading and delivery locations, the date, and the type and weight of the goods. We reply within 30 minutes at most, during opening hours.

Frequently asked questions

Which European countries do you transport goods to?

We organise road transport to 23 countries: Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Sweden, Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Serbia and the Republic of Moldova, in both directions. For other countries, write to us and we will check the route.

How long does transport from Romania to Western Europe take?

With one driver, usually 1–2 days to Hungary or Vienna, 2–4 days to Germany, 2–3 days to northern Italy, 3–4 days to the Netherlands or Belgium, 3–5 days to France, 4–6 days to Spain and 6–7 days to Portugal. With two drivers, the transit times are 1–2 days shorter.

Do you also transport from Europe to Romania?

Yes. We run trips in both directions, for example machinery from Germany, food from Italy or Spain, flowers from the Netherlands or chemicals from Belgium.

What documents do I need for a transport within the EU?

For EU countries, the invoice and the CMR consignment note are enough, plus the UIT code from RO e-Transport for shipments that leave Romania and exceed the thresholds. For special goods, such as dangerous or perishable goods, ADR documents or the vehicle's ATP certificate are also required.

How are the goods insured in international transport?

The carrier is liable under the CMR Convention, up to 8.33 SDR per kilogram of gross weight lost or damaged. For high-value goods, this limit can be far below the real value, so we recommend separate cargo insurance.

Can I send a single pallet to another country?

Yes, by international groupage. Your goods travel together with those of other customers, and the price is calculated per pallet or per loading metre, depending on weight and dimensions.
