Container transport on a chassis
We collect the container from the port or the rail terminal, take it to your warehouse and return the empty container to the shipping line's depot. We take the line's free days into account, so that you do not pay demurrage.

Which containers we transport
| Container | Approx. internal dimensions | For |
|---|---|---|
| 20' standard | 5.9 × 2.35 × 2.39 m | heavy goods: tiles, metal, sacks |
| 40' standard | 12 × 2.35 × 2.39 m | general cargo |

| Reefer 20' / 40' | slightly smaller, with its own unit | temperature-controlled goods |
How an import container transport works
- You send us the container number and the release document from the shipping line or your agent.
- We check that the goods are cleared or that the transport leaves under customs transit (T1), with clearance at destination.
- We schedule the pick-up from the terminal and the delivery to your warehouse.
- You unload the container within the waiting time agreed in the quote.
- We return the empty container to the depot indicated by the shipping line and send you the proof of return.
Free days, demurrage and detention
The shipping line gives you a number of free days (free time) during which the container can stay in the port and at your site. After that you pay demurrage for the days the container stays in the terminal and detention for the days it is out of the port and has not yet been returned. We plan the pick-up and the return within these days, so that you avoid the costs.
For export: the verified gross mass
For export, the loaded container needs the verified gross mass (VGM), under the SOLAS Convention, before it is loaded onto the ship. On the road, the total weight of the combination must respect the legal limits, so for very heavy containers our quote tells you whether a special chassis is needed.
Two 20' containers on the same trip
When the weight allows, we can carry two 20' containers on a 40' chassis, which lowers the cost per container. Find out more about the port area on the freight transport Constanța page.
Containers from European ports
Besides the port of Constanța, we can collect containers and goods from the ports of Rotterdam, Antwerp, Koper or Piraeus, with delivery in Romania. If the goods are not cleared at the port of arrival, they leave under customs transit (T1) and are cleared at destination.

How long can I keep the container for unloading?
We set the included waiting time in the quote. If you need more, we can leave the chassis with the container at your site and come back for it, at a separate cost.
Do you transport reefer containers?
Yes, with a chassis equipped with a generator, so that the container's unit runs throughout the trip.
Do you also deal with customs formalities?
We coordinate with your customs broker. The transport can also leave under customs transit (T1), with clearance at destination.
Do you also collect containers from other ports?
Yes, on request we organise road transport of containers from other European ports or terminals as well, as far as Romania.
What does transport under T1 transit mean?
Goods that have not been cleared in the EU move under customs supervision, with a transit document, to the customs office of destination, where clearance takes place.
Can a container be brought from Rotterdam straight to Romania?
Yes. The container can be brought on a chassis, and for long distances a combination with rail is sometimes more advantageous. Our quote tells you which option works out better.
