Refrigerated transport
For goods that must be kept at a fixed temperature, from frozen products to pharmaceuticals. The truck arrives pre-cooled at loading, the temperature is recorded throughout the trip, and on request you receive the data at delivery.
Temperature ranges
| Range | What we transport |
|---|---|
| from -25 °C to -18 °C | frozen: meat, fish, frozen vegetables, ice cream |
| from 0 °C to +4 °C | fresh meat, dairy, prepared foods |
| from +2 °C to +8 °C | medicines and vaccines, some dairy products |
| from +10 °C to +15 °C | exotic fruit, chocolate, flowers |
| from +15 °C to +25 °C | medicines at room temperature, cosmetics, wine |
How we keep the cold chain
- the truck arrives at loading already cooled to the requested temperature;
- the goods are loaded at transport temperature: the unit maintains the temperature, it does not cool warm goods;
- pallets are placed with space for air circulation;
- the temperature is recorded automatically, and on request you receive the report from the temperature recorder;
- the doors are opened only at loading and unloading.
Documents and approvals
Vehicles for food of animal origin hold a sanitary-veterinary authorisation. For international transport of perishable products, the trucks have an ATP certificate, in line with the international agreement on the carriage of perishable foodstuffs.
For pharmaceuticals, tell us in the request whether you need transport in line with Good Distribution Practice (GDP), so that we assign a carrier qualified for it.
Goods at different temperatures on the same trip
Some semi-trailers have separate compartments with different temperatures, so you can send both frozen and chilled goods on the same trip. Tell us in the request which temperatures you need and how much space each type of goods takes.
For refrigerated trips to other countries, see the international transport page.
International refrigerated transport
In international food transport, refrigerated vehicles hold an ATP certificate. On the way to Romania we often bring fruit and vegetables from Spain and Greece, flowers and plants from the Netherlands and food from Italy.

Frequently asked questions
Can't find your answer? Write to us at contact@transport-marfa.com or call +40 731 095 863.
What happens if the refrigeration unit breaks down?
The temperature is monitored throughout the trip, and at any deviation the driver and the dispatcher step in immediately. For high-value goods we recommend cargo insurance that also covers the risk of a refrigeration unit failure.
Do I get proof of the temperature?
Yes, on request we send you the temperature record for the whole duration of the transport.
Can you transport medicines?
Yes, at +2…+8 °C or at +15…+25 °C, with carriers qualified for pharmaceutical products. Tell us your quality requirements in the request.
Can I send refrigerated goods by groupage?
Yes, on some routes refrigerated groupage exists, mostly for food. If your temperature does not match that of the other customers, we offer you a dedicated refrigerated van.
Do you bring fruit and vegetables from Spain or Greece?
Yes, with refrigerated trucks set for each product and with temperature recording throughout the trip.
What is the ATP certificate?
It is the certificate showing that the refrigerated or insulated vehicle complies with the international agreement on the carriage of perishable foodstuffs. It is required in international food transport.
